This is the Victor Hugo Theatre.
It was inaugurated in 1886 and designed by the local architect Jean-Marie Laloy.
Its limestone façade was directly inspired by the theatre in Angers.
Inside, the auditorium follows the style of a traditional Italian theatre and was fully restored in 2001.
With its red velvet seats and gold-leaf decorations, it once welcomed all the people of the city — from wealthy factory owners to the workers of the local shoe factories.
