On your left stands the Bertin factory.

The saw-tooth roofs of this building reveal its industrial past as a shoe factory.

For more than a century, the shoe industry made the reputation of Fougères.

At its peak, the city had around one hundred production sites, ranging from small workshops to large factories employing up to 1,500 workers.

At that time, the entire city lived to the rhythm of the sewing machines.
