Rue du Nançon

Rue du Nançon takes its name from the small river that runs through the district.

For centuries, this river served both as a defensive feature for the castle, forming its moat, and as an economic resource for the town.

Its waters powered many mills and workshops belonging to craftsmen who were essential to the city’s life — including tanners, cloth makers, dyers and weavers.
